You don't have to be afraid of where you are 2008-08-22 - 6:08 p.m.
I keep comparing everything to Western, and I'm gonna complain a little before I get to everything else.
The bathroom is right across the hall, but creepy as hell. The faucets are annoying because they're push-activated, and turn off after 5 seconds. The room with the showers has no curtain in its entrance, so there's very little to no privacy.
Everything here looks old. Not in a cool vintage way, but in a 'wow, why haven't they fixed this/torn this down and rebuilt it?' way.
I have to park a really long way away from my dorm.
I can feel the springs in the mattress on my bed. I had to lay down my blanket for a cushion and sleep on top of it.
Financial aid needs a fucking halberd shoved up their cunts.
The door to the room is automatically locked at all times, which I feel both good and bad about. Good because there's little chance something will get stolen, bad because I'm afraid of forgetting my keys. Which has definitely happened before.
The dining halls close so fucking early, especially on weekends.
There isn't an Asian channel, or Bravo. wtf sir.
Anyway.
There was a little party at Sar's on Tuesday night. Joe and I settled our twister match (he won rather quickly), and got me a grilled-cheese maker, along with two little cakes. The bag in which the grilled-cheese maker came was a giant pink princess bag, which had a little wand attached to it. I forgot both cakes and the wand at home.
The ride down didn't seem as long as it actually was, and I didn't blow out my voice this time from signing too much. My drove the whole way so I didn't have to. There were a billion people to help move everything into the dorm, so that took about five minutes. Figuring out where to actually put stuff took about three hours. There's no dresser, so my pants, underwear, and pajama stuff are all piled at the bottom of the wardrobey thing.
I met my would've-been roommate at the little fine-arts "reception" thing, and I actually wish that he was my roommate. We just seemed to click a lot more than me and Calvin. I still don't really have a sense of Calvin's personality. It isn't as awkward as Jake was though.
